Support Team Whitten!!

The father of one of our students (Kylie Whitten, Grade 5) has recently been diagnosed with a cancer recurrence.  This has been a devastating diagnosis for the father, Torey Whitten, and his family.  His first battle was long and difficult — and now he is looking ahead to battle #2.

Kylie is determined to do everything she can to help her father and also raise money to find a cure for cancer.   As a school family, we are supporting Kylie and ask you to support her as well.

Kylie’s project: WRIST BRACELETS for $5.00 each.  The image below shows the bracelets — a tribute to her father who is a big U of M Fan and full of courage and strength.

The sale will run Monday May 2 to Thursday May 5.

Georgetown Fun Run for Spencer, Caleb and Jarod!

These 5 wonderful men, Mr. Rob, Mr. Bowen, Mr. B, Mr. K, and Mr. Gort all had their heads shaved to show their support for Spencer, Caleb and Jarod.  These boys are struggling with cancer.  Thanks to the wonderful families, students and staff at Georgetown, we raised over $5,000.00 to help Spencer’s family with medical expenses.  Spencer is a kindergartener here at Georgetown.  Several of our students have had their heads shaved as well!  A few of them in our classroom!  Way to go guys!  You rock!!

Takin’ Down Cancer!!

Picture 1On January 27th the high school wrestling team is hosting an event to honor cancer survivors and raise money to donate to cancer research.   We as a Georgetown family have decided to join the district wide campaign by collecting change.   Beginning Monday, January 18th and ending Friday, January 22nd Georgetown Elementary  will be collecting coins to “Take Down Cancer.”  So dig through those pockets, search under those couch cushions and gather up all your loose change to help support this worthy cause.
