Happy Winter Break Everyone!

Just thinking ahead to our Valentine’s party, I would like to have a little contest for the best “Valentine Holder”! If you go online to Pinterest or just google “valentines”, you can find lots of ideas for cute valentine holders out of cereal, shoe, or Kleenex boxes. Create a cute valentine box, bag, or otherwise to bring to school to store your valentines in as we pass them out. On party day, we’ll have a vote for the best holder and that person will get a prize! (It will be a good one!!)

Now, no worries if you are not a crafty person! If this is not your cup of tea, just decorate a paper bag (lunch size or a little larger) with your name on it to hang off of your desk. (I do have bags here at school if you need one – just let me know.) I want this to be fun! No pressure ok?

Ok, get to work you crafters! When yours is done, feel free to bring it in any time before Feb. 13th!

Our Christmas Party

IMG_4615Our christmas party was so much fun. There were four stations, each with a really fun activity. One had two games in one station; one game was feed santa and the other was make the rings land on the elf hat. Another station was take a picture with a sign that said “ho ho ho” or a Santa hat. The next station is make a ornament with strips of paper and a plastic ball. The next station was feasting on treats. At the end of it all, we watched a move called Christmas Odyssey and got packed up. It was a great party!

Christmas is Around the Corner!

Happy HolidaysI haven’t even said “Happy Thanksgiving” yet, and we are already planning Christmas activities! Turkey, snow, and holidays are already upon us! If you like to plan ahead, I wanted to let all moms and dads know that our Christmas party will be Thursday, Dec. 18th from 2:00 to 3:00. We are holding it a day earlier than our last day to alleviate all of the parking congestion caused when our whole building has their parties on the same day! Our last day, the 19th, we are planning some fun activities together as a whole 4th grade!

Another reminder for your calendar is that our Holiday Program is Tuesday, Dec. 2nd from 7:45 to 8:15. More information will be forthcoming!

Your students are doing a great job! Thanks for sending me such great kids!

Happy New Year!!

snowmanHappy New Year Georgetown Families!  I am so looking forward to seeing all of my smiling second grade faces as we get back into school this week.  Just one quick note, we will NOT be having our Christmas parties. However, we WILL be having our writing celebration on our All About Books!   At the end of that, we will open our stockings to see what the goodies were that everyone brought in!  Hope everyone had a restful and merry holiday!  Wishing you all a very happy, healthy, prosperous 2014!

Halloween Party this Thursday!!

pumpkimHi Everyone!  We will be having our Halloween party this Thursday from 2:30 – 3:30!  Students can bring their costumes to school and we will get dressed up for the party during our last recess from 1:45-2:05.  Moms and dads are welcome to come during recess to help set up for the party and to help dress your second grader if necessary due to costume challenges.  🙂  We welcome everyone to come check out the characters that will be hanging out in our classroom!  It should be a “Spook-tacular” time!!

Reminder!  *No school this Friday for students due to records day.  See you next week for Parent-Teacher Conferences!

Be My Valentine!

Thank you, parents, for providing another great party for us!  Thursday, Feb. 14, was our Valentine Party!  We played “Minute to Win It”, Bingo, made a craft, and had a delicious treat!  Following that, we finally arrived at the long awaited time to open our valentines!  Thank you to all of my students for the wonderful valentines you gave to Mrs. O and I!  We loved them!
