The Count Down Begins!!

Hi Families!  We are counting down the days this week to SPRING BREAK!  And we have some pretty excited kids!  Whether you are traveling or staying at home, I wish everyone a great week off to rest and relax.

Just a couple of reminders:

  1. This Thursday, 3/30, we will be showing the health video at 2 pm.  An email was sent home to let you know of this, with a link for the video should you want to preview it.  If you do not want your child to watch the video at school in their gender group, you may pick your child up early that day prior to 2 pm, or they will have to sit in the office with a book.
  2. We are having a pizza party to celebrate our good math scores and earning 10 “Living Legend” tallies!  Your student may bring in a drink to have with their pizza on Thursday, 3/30.
  3. Finally, as part of this celebration, we have decided to add Fort Day and Electronics to the mix.  Your student may bring in a sheet or blanket to create a fort and their favorite electronic.  (These will be locked up when not using.)  All of this on this Thursday, 3/30!

Many students have asked if I will run a SPRING BREAK LEARNING CONTEST…so here goes:jelly

All students who spends 120 MINUTES or MORE engaged in reading or online learning (120 total minutes over all the days of break), will be entered into a drawing for a $25 AMAZON GIFT CARD.

Online Options:  MOBYMAX (ALL GRADES), STUDY ISLAND (Gr 3-5), RAZ KIDS (Gr PK-2), MATHFACTSPRO (Gr 1-5).

Reading Options: Listen to an audio book or a REAL PERSON READ or  JUST READ on your own.  Enter your total reading minutes here.   If you need ideas for great family friendly audio books, check the GEEKMOM / GEEKDAD Blog.

smiley faceThere is so much talent in Georgetown Elementary!!  Wow!  The kids performed and did a fantastic job!  And the second graders were terrific audience members!  Mrs. Reagan will have the video posted of both talent shows for all to see AFTER spring break.  So keep your eyes peeled on the blogs!  You will want to see this year’s show!  HAPPY SPRING BREAK EVERYONE!!!

2G Summary! 3/19/12

This Friday, Mar. 23 is another PJ day!!  Our second grade students earned this as a result of winning the Coin Wars as the top-collecting grade!!  So get those fancy pajamas on and come to school!!

No homework packet for next week!!  In celebration of spring break approaching, we will forego doing a homework packet!  Enjoy the week off!

Eagle 5K and 10K Run/Walk is this Saturday, the 24th, starting at 9:00 at the High School!  Get fit and enjoy this warm weather at the same time!

Two students from our class, Isabel Winkelman and Joanna Workman were winners in the Grand Valley poster contest in math!!

Way to go, girls!!  We are so proud of you!!  (See posting below!!)

Happy Spring Break Everyone!!

We can hardly believe it is here!  Spring Break 2011!!  We celebrated today with a Talent Show, a movie, and a Beach Reading Time with all of our second grade students!  Below we have some pictures attached!  We hope that everyone has a great spring break and we’ll see you when we come back on April 11th!
