Raz Kids Ready to Go!!

Screen Shot 2013-10-08 at 3.42.02 PMThe Raz-Kids site is set up and ready to go this year, everyone!  The log-in for our class is lquigleyb. Please make sure to write this down somewhere that is easily accessible for your second grader.  Every Raz-Kids quiz that your student passes with 100%, counts towards their Reading Counts goal as well!  Their time on the computer reading also counts towards their 15 minutes a night on their Book It calendars.  This just provides one more way for your second grader to enrich their reading practice!  So keep on reading everyone!!  -Mrs. Q

Reading News

Parents and Students,

We now have two more resources to use to help out with reading!  Along the side of the blog, you can see the Scholastic Book Wizard.  If your student needs to read a book from home, and you are wondering if the book is in your student’s reading level, type it into the book wizard and it will tell you what level the book is.  That way you will know if your student is reading in their level.

Another resource to use is Raz Kids!  Our school pays for a subscription.  Yesterday, your student brought home a sheet with their name and password on it.  You may want to book mark the page on your computer and then have your student get on to practice reading that way as well.  They can have the book read to them and record themselves reading as well.  They get points to buy things for their reading rocket!  It’s a lot of fun, so please encourage them to read this way as well!

We are growing so much in our reading skills!!  Way to go guys and gals!  Keep up the good work!!

Quick Update from Mrs. Q!

Parents!

Coming home today are your student’s log in and password for RAZ-KIDS.  Raz-Kids is a reading site where your student can read and also earn points towards their Reading Counts goals.  They go to Raz-Kids.com and log in.  They read at their level and after each book read, they take a quiz.  If your child earns a perfect score on the quiz, he/she will get a point towards Reading Counts.  This is also another alternative for reading in order to get their 15 minutes a night, or if they don’t bring home a book.

Also, another parent called it to my attention that I did not mention what day “Poetry Academy Day” is.  This will be every Wednesday.  Have your child get their 10 signatures by Wednesday and they will earn a ticket towards School Store!

Thanks and have a great weekend!   -Mrs. Q

Raz Kids!!

TN_23-08-07_01aHi Everyone!

Happy Snow Day today!  Hope this blog note finds everyone home and snuggled up from this cold, wintery weather!  Just wanted to suggest something fun for all of my students today!  I have updated our class on the Raz Kids site for reading.  Just click on “Raz Kids” located further down the blog under “School Blogs”.  Go to “Log In”.  Login in using lquigleyb.  Then find your name and begin reading in your independent reading level.  We’ll plan a class pizza party for all of those kids who participate and move up in their reading levels!  It’s a great day to snuggle up and read!!!

Have a great day!

Love, Mrs. Q
